Quilt Show Recap
Member Spotlight - Bobbie Spaid Quilts - Stories Stored in Stitches by Bobbie Spaid
“I never wanted to own a sewing machine! “ That is my opening line to anyone who dares to ask how I got started in quilting -- the story goes on from there. In a presentation that includes real quilts a well as PowerPoint, I will share the stories behind ( or in many cases, before) some of my quilts. The power of the quilting journey for so many of us is not in the completed product but in the process .Hopefully this will be a time for us to relate to the commonalities of success, failure, laughter, tears, motivation and innovation that bind us in our relationship as quilters. Bio I started quilting in 2003 . Although it was a reluctant start, I was rather prolific from the get-go. I took a few classes and learned to fear the quilt police enough to start paying attention to seams and tension. Reflecting on it, most of my work was mostly traditional but I was always looking for a way to own the creation and make it mine. In 2010 I joined Brandywine Valley Quilters. In 2014, I co-chaired the biennial quilt show and have been active, in some sort of leadership capacity, in every show since. Over time, I have become more innovative in my quilting interest and love exploring the “what if?” challenge.
